Cockpit Images - Page Two
As you can see, the interior of the cockpit as been pretty well stripped out. All of the upholstery has since been removed and will be replaced with hardboard painted gray. Once the side consoles have been installed, we're going to build a platform that will be just about even with the bottom of the door. This will allow people to get in and out without doing damage to the flight stick or the right console.
Looks pretty tore up, eh? This instrument panel will be covered upby the new one. We're going to be building a special frame that will allow us to change the configuration of the instrument panel depending on the gross type of aircraft being flown.
The first incarnation of the instrument panel will contain two 9" SVGA displays. The first will be located in the lower center and will have a constant running map display showing on it. It will also display waypoints that are entered into the INS console. The second 9" display will be located in the upper left corner and will display weapons stores, the displays for the BIT systems, and whatever else we decide to have it show.
This is the seat we've chosen for use in the cockpit. It has been cleaned up quite a bit since this picture was taken. We've also removed the armrests. The wide metal bar running under the front of the seat is part of the original wing mounting point for the airplane. There is one very similar to it located about 3 feet behind this one and a bit lower.
